I've bought a few dozen of these in the last 3-4 years. We have hundreds of students and they are used many times a day by people just learning how to use them. The main reason I keep buying this brand is the price and the 'auto shut off' feature. I'm really glad I don't have to replace the battery every time someone leaves one of them on. (It used to happen every day.) If there was another inexpensive alternative with an auto-off feature, I would buy it because it's not as good. My biggest complaint is that they last about 6 months and then the wire breaks right at the base where it enters the clamp. For a while we can wiggle the cord and get it working, but it's frustrating. We tried to fix the cables but the same problem soon returned. We have tried to avoid this problem by reinforcing the wires on the new terminals when they are new. That helps too, but not for long. I've used many other brands of clamps and understand that they are all prone to this issue, but this particular clamp seems particularly prone to it.
