As other reviews have mentioned, the instructions are pretty much useless. good quality product; they even include an optional faceplate; I assume this is in case you hit the wrong directional arrow. The product can be wall mounted or hung from the ceiling. There are 3 connecting wires inside: white (common), black (110V) and red (high voltage). For the standard installation (always turn off the switch first!), carefully remove the front and back panels. Uncover the red wire (wire nuts included) and route the black and white wires up through the clamp under the bracket or through the holes ready for punching on the back panel. After you connect them to power, two small wires attach to the small square clip that comes from the battery; Look closely and you'll see a small clip slot in the bottom corner of the device. plug in tightly; Don't be surprised, at this point the red LEDs will light up. Connect the front and back panels (screw the back panel to the wall if you're wall mounting first), attach the fasteners, and turn the switch back on. The red LEDs work from the start; To test the light, press and hold the button on the bottom of the device. It will probably take a day to charge before testing by turning off the device. If you can plug in an outlet or light switch, you can do this installation; If not, it shouldn't take an electrician more than 10-15 minutes from start to finish with the outlets plugged in and ready to go.
