It's nice if you don't mind the smell of garbage and all the flies

Before I start, this headline describes my private life perfectly. I bought this bin because it looked attractive, was about the right size for the space available, and seemed to offer many welcome quality of life improvements over my old bin. Fortunately, this bin has met my hopes and expectations on all three counts. Unfortunately, there is a HUGE problem with the bin that didn't even occur to me as a possible consideration when I bought it - IT WILL NOT LOCK! Since the first day of ownership, the distance between the cover and the body has changed constantly. The size of the gap varies depending on the bin's current mood, and since it's behaving right now it's only about 1.5 centimeters (which you can see in the photo), but I've seen it get closer to 3 centimeters when he is particularly upset. Now you might think that an inch or two is nothing to worry about, and you're right about the general scheme of things, but remember that the smell of rot and flies doesn't need a big helping hand to budge. in with you. I also think you would be less optimistic about this whole thing if you only paid $100 for a trash can and every time you took out the trash bag you inevitably woke up the next morning to the smell of trash and (admittedly somewhat impressive) repopulation the efforts of flies, mosquitoes and various other winged brothers who now call your home their home. Needless to say, I don't think you or anyone else should buy this bin. Eventually, to be honest, I got about 3 or 4 open-close cycles of the lid before the bin made its eternal promise of never closing again. God knows it's not much but I thought I should mention that from the moment I opened the box it wasn't bad.
