They figured out how to open the cabinet and pull the can out. So we moved to a free-standing step can we already had. That was an epic failure, she took the can out the first day. UPDATE TO 5*. I originally would have given this a 5* review, had it not stopped working suddenly, out of the blue about 2 weeks ago. I have only been using the product since the first of March so in less than 4 months, a very expensive trash can now does not work properly. We really liked this and it was great for keeping our dog out of the trash, but it just stopped working now 9 months after we bought it. Disappointing! Too expensive to not even last a year

I purchased this trash can because my cats would tear and shred my trash bags no matter how well I tried to tuck in the bag. I love this trash can, it works great and the bag can tuck completely in. It makes my life so much easier. The only thing I didn’t like is a accidentally bought the can without the power cable so I had to make 2 separate purchases, but that was my fault.

I haven't time it, but it just seems like this trashcan's lid takes a bit too long to open after you put your hand over the sensor. Every single time I go to throw something away I notice how long it takes. And it doesn't help that the sensor is very close to the lid, so if you just leave your hand there, the lid will hit it. In general if feels like a floor pedal would be faster and less frustrating.

Love this trash can and the pet lock for when I’m home. It looks great and has improved my trash routine quite a bit!That being said, it’s not truly pet proof when they are unsupervised. Like the size and ease. Almost too sensitive for opening. When pet lock is on, lid will not open so it’s either touchless or locked. My dog just knocked it over and took the top mechanism off. ( I have a large dog)

I purchased this trashcan while remodeling my kitchen. I have a small kitchen and put a power outlet in a pantry so the trashcan could be inside the pantry. The lid stopped working for 2nd time. Both lasted just over the 1 year warranty.I could tell you it's great and I liked the automatic opening function. Definitely prefer battery to the cord, cause it's an eye sore.

I bought two of these cans in 2017 I recently bought a newer model and it's just as good but has a lid lock. The lock is a good idea. However it doesn't turn off the detection. This makes it so the motor tries to open the lid. I don't know how good this will be for the longevity of the motor. I had a touchless trashcan for over 10 years. After several battery changes over these 10 years, it finally stopped working. Ordered this one and was pleased that it also had a power adapter. I have now purchased three of these trash cans and 1 additional lid. The cost of the entire trashcan is only a few dollars more than the replacement lid. So far the lids are only lasting for about a year.just long enough that the one year warranty doesn't cover replacement! Disappointing for an item this expensive!

I bought this trash can because the family I nanny for bought one and I fell in love with it. We have one of those trash cans that you had to push the lid in to put trash in, but found we just left the top off because most stuff was too messy to do that with. We also have a toddler, a large dog, and a cat who all like to patrol the trash for goodies so this one is perfect. I really love this trash can. It's very responsive and the batteries last a long time (I use rechargeable batteries and only have to charge every 5-6 months or so). It is also very heavy duty and sturdy. The only complaint is you can't stuff the trash down much or it's a struggle to get the bag out. The manufacturer is fantastic and responded to my warranty claim that the lid stopped working within hours and they are shipping a replacement lid.
