Snooze You Lose: A Review of Yogasleep Dohm and Rohm White Noise Machines

I have to admit, I was excited to try out the Yogasleep Dohm and Rohm White Noise Machines. The idea of falling asleep to the soothing sounds of real fans sounded like a dream come true. And while these machines certainly deliver on that promise, they are not without their drawbacks. Firstly, I found the machines to be a little bulky for travel. While the Rohm is a more compact size, the Dohm took up a lot of space in my luggage. The noise-canceling aspect of these machines was also impressive, but unfortunately, it was a little too good. I found myself sleeping through my alarm and missing important calls due to how well the machines muffled sound. Additionally, the controls on both machines were a little finicky. I often found myself accidentally turning the volume up too loud or accidentally turning the machine off altogether. However, once I got the hang of the controls, they were fairly easy to use. Overall, I think these machines would be great for people who have trouble sleeping due to outside noise or are looking for a way to create a more peaceful sleeping environment. However, for travel or everyday use, they may not be the most convenient option.

Pros
  • These white noise machines effectively cancel out background noise and distractions, making them perfect for use in the office or while traveling. They also provide much-needed privacy for those who share a living space
Cons
  • While the Yogasleep Dohm and Rohm White Noise Machines can be effective at masking background noise, they may not work as well in extremely noisy environments, such as near airports or highways
