No Free Standing Basket

I bought this basket to fit in a very specific space and also because I needed a detachable laundry bag so I didn't have to carry the whole basket down the stairs. It fits in the space but is completely non-functional. The main problem is that it doesn't have enough supports, so it crumples all the time. I thought that when filled with linen it would stretch rather than sag, but it doesn't. You have to hold the basket to put laundry in it, otherwise it will shift or crumple under your clothes. The moment a piece of laundry hangs on its side, it bends and begins to pour out the laundry. You can see in the picture that we stuffed the basket in the metal shelf in the bathroom thinking it would help hold it up but no. Also, there is support for the opening square at the top of the basket, but the rest of the basket is quite flexible. So when you fill the basket, it's difficult to get the thick laundry bag out through the small square hole. I started stepping on the edge of the basket to hold it in place when I pull out the laundry bag, which sometimes means stepping on the laundry bag inside the basket. All of this is annoying. I wore it for a few months and thought I could smooth out the creases so it doesn't sag as much, but it hasn't improved. What he really needs are poles running around every corner to help him stand up straight. It has short legs that run up about 15cm in the corner (see photo), but that's not enough. It's not a freestanding basket, more like a heavy laundry bag.
