Review on ☕ Bialetti Musa Stainless Steel Stovetop Coffee Maker - 6-Cup Capacity (9.2 oz) by James Crofton

Great moka pot and steps for the perfect moka espresso!

trying to kick my Starbucks habit I bought this and a Kuissential milk frother. From all the reviews of several mocha pots, I chose the Bialetti stainless steel over aluminum. This particular pot is very elegant and attractive and looks great on our kitchen island behind the stove. More importantly, the Moka Pot works GREAT! I wanted to make sure I could make the best tasting espresso out of the pot, so I did quite a bit of research online to learn "how to make the perfect moka espresso". The one I chose had a few more steps than the potty, but I did it anyway (with a bit of improvisation along the way) and the results were AMAZING! Starbucks must be so lucky to make an espresso that smooth. Here are some tips on how to make the perfect moka espresso: 1. Never wash the pot with anything but hot water and never use soap to clean it.2. Break the pot/flavor before you start making espresso. I used the strong coffee blend I had on hand and made two (2) pots before finally getting down to business with the expensive illy coffee.3. Put the coffee in the basket and align it with your finger. Don't pour it on the bottom of the pan and DO NOT use soil.4. Set a small bowl of cold tap water by the stove (I'll explain later).5. Preheat microwave or espresso water before boiling. I use 8 oz for a moka pot. You can also heat more and pour the excess into the cup to warm it up (obviously pour out the water before pouring the espresso).6. Pour hot water on the bottom of the pot and don't let it get past the flush valve.7. Put the filter basket on the bottom and screw the top onto the device.8. Place the pan on the stove at maximum power and watch the process. You can lift the lid and watch the process. The coffee will begin to darken and gradually lighten as it nears the end of brewing.9. When you see the coffee running out, remove the pan from the burner.10. Place the pot in cold water (no higher than the lid) to stop the brewing process.11. Shake the espresso in the pot for a second or two to mix the coffee evenly.12. Pour and enjoy. If you're super disciplined and want to save leftovers for any reason, place the leftovers in a sealed thermos to keep them hot. Obviously it is important to have a good coffee grinder, specially designed for the coffee maker. The illi I bought is expensive but the taste is absolutely amazing and bland. This and my new frother allow me to enjoy a great latte at a significant saving over what I paid at Starbucks. My only regret is that I waited so long to finally make this purchase and enjoy my coffee. If you have any doubts about the purchase, do not hesitate.
