When I bought this camera for my son's (14 year old) birthday present I was looking I then got a small, inexpensive, fairly solid camera with good image quality that uses AA batteries. I read a lot of reviews and decided on this model. We haven't had it that long, but it seems to work well, and the hinged area that stores the batteries and memory card seems a bit sturdier than my Canon Powershot, which I have to attach with a piece of tape. Image quality is fairly good under most lighting conditions,
