I bought them because they are gold plated where the terminals touch case ground. I needed a better grounding conductor (shield) to reduce noise and provide a good, low-impedance ground between the computer and the device I was using. (Well built USB 2.0 Mini-B connection) But there is no line between the two ends on the screen. What use are gold-plated connectors if there is no connection to the shielding ground? I've tried other "non-gold plated" USB 2.0 cables and they work fine on the screen. If you only want a 4-wire connection (probably just USB 1.1) this might work. However, avoid them if you're looking for a noise-free USB connection with a shielded ground. USB 2.0 Specification: The splice shield connector is less than 0.6ohm. This one is open.
