Due to the low price and number of clips in the pack I wasn't expecting much from them but I was pleasantly surprised. We have a normal tile (in thickness). I noticed that some reviewers have commented on this. However, when installing, you will encounter many places where there are multiple layers due to overlapping tiles. I have found that this clamp even fits 3 layers of shingles. It was tight, but it still worked. It was best on 2 layers of shingles. It is very tight with 2 layers yet easy to install. Layer 1 is very easy to install yet secure enough to ensure it won't be blown away in the wind. The clamps are flexible enough that you can use two hands to attach them to thick layers of clapboard, which just takes a little more strength. We've used them for LED lights, which are very small, so the bulb itself clips into the eye of the clip. But never mind, if you teach the garland and place the clamp just a few millimeters from the bulb, the tension will hold the garlands securely in place. and dangles for days, but the clips hold up well. I used a clamp about every 2.5 feet. One more thing worth mentioning. Due to the fact that your lights are on the edge of your roof, some of them are actually on the roof rather than hanging from it. Nothing to worry about, just be aware that some lights may be less visible than others.
