I have olecranon bursitis which is a buildup of fluid from a bursa which I have emptied twice and returned within a day each time. The podiatrist recommended I use volleyball elbow pads and recommended them while I was still in the treatment room. They are comfortable to wear so I don't have to worry about making the problem worse as it is an area that cannot be avoided making it worse. I originally bought the small/medium size but had to return it for the large/extra large size. I have tried using ace bandages but living alone I have never been able to properly put them on myself when I have to shower and remove the ace bandage myself. Elbow pads don't require velcro or anything like that so I just need to protect my elbow, and a volleyball elbow pad protects my elbow and prevents other people from seeing that ugly fluid filled sac on my elbow. It even annoys me, but the orthopedic surgeon advised me not to have the operation because the possibility of infection can be very serious. I'm 55 years old so I'm not too worried about this bursitis olecrani bag which is protected with a volleyball elbow pad and not visible. I might have felt differently 30 years ago, but (3) different doctors advised me to live with it rather than have surgery and wear volleyball elbow pads.
