I just got a new drum unit. This scared me because the box said it was a new toner pack, but when I opened the box it was the drum. The print quality is not very good. There is a film of toner on the page. My toner cartridge is brand new and it is a Brother cartridge from a local office. I ran a utility that says the drum may be damaged. I won't be returning it because I needed it to print something important right away. I usually print mailing labels or copies of things I want to keep for myself, so it wasn't important to me to print a quality page exactly when I need it. However, I'll probably buy a better quality drum next time I'm near an office supply store. If you don't need to print anything right now and don't have access to the supplies store, I recommend you wait and buy a higher quality product. Also, I know it's not the printer. My original drum was fine and my printer worked great. My husband replaced the toner cartridge in our other Brother printer with mine and didn't realize the drum was attached. He accidentally threw away the drum and empty toner.
