Doesn't work yet for charcoal bags

I had this in a purse I bought at a thrift store. It has a musty basement smell that I can't get out. I've washed my purse twice, used deodorant spray, newspaper, baking soda and coffee grounds to no avail. It sat in her purse for about a week. .still stinks.
