Stops working after 6 months of use.

GPS is ok. Gave me the right directions. The screen is barely visible in daylight. The night is great. My problem is that after 6 months of use, the device turned off as soon as you turned it on. Then, after a few days, it no longer lights up at all. Is there an internal battery that needs to be replaced? I leave it plugged in so it always gets power when the machine is on. Is there anything I can do to make it work again?
