Review on Dorman 265-813 Automatic Transmission Oil Pan - Ford/Lincoln/Mercury Compatible Models by Redfish Rosenhoover

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Do not be afraid of problems with the drain plug. This is a high quality frying pan.

This pan is just as strong and strong as the original on my 2000 Lincoln Town Car with the added benefit of the powder coated finish. Yes, the drain threads are powder coated, but that can be repaired in about 5 minutes anyway. And you want that too, because the supplied plug is nonsense. Go to the auto parts store and buy the Needa drain plug 653116 (M14x1.5). Instead of a metal disc, there's a rubber O-ring right on top of the cork (because it's not 1927). When you get the pan, remove the drain plug. Apply some sewing machine oil or 3 in 1 oil or whatever to the needa plug threads and pan threads. Now run it back and forth along the strings of the pan. Screw, screw, turn. Unscrew, adding a few drops of oil from time to time. Do this for a few minutes, then delete the plug and pan threads and you're done. And yes, even with the need to buy another plug and fix the threading issue, this is a fantastic pan. Buy it.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Doubtful purchase for seniors
