Rolled up watch

One corner was rolled up, only noticed on installation and leaking. Good thing there was a drain plug. Removed and this was an apparent manufacturer error causing the material to run into a corner and have a slight ripple. Needs to be installed so we leveled it with a hammer/vise. Good part, but check for flatness with a ruler upon receipt.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • old

Good frying pan, terrible cork

Good frying pan for the money. Do not use a standard plug. The bearing screw is a drain screw M14x1.5. Go to the Parts Store and get Dorman's HELP! Branded drain plug M14x1.5 with a magnetic tip or normal, as well as a set of "assorted washers M14" of the same brand. Use a thick white nylon washer on this new plug and it will not leak. Don't make my mistake and assume the connector is airtight even with teflon tape.

Pros
  • Best in their niche
Cons
  • Insecure

Direct replacement - 4R70W transmission

Since Ford was good enough to make my truck so that my transmission oil could only be drained by draining the sump, I decided to try this option. I removed the pan, cleaned the rubber gasket and put this pan in place. The oil pan is bolted directly to my transmission, just like the stock transmission. No problems installing and seems to be working for now. I'll update this if there are any issues with the pan, but I suspect there won't be as I have the same pan on Expedition and haven't had any

Pros
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • boring packaging

Good fit but leaking washer

More comfortable to use than the original pan. I change the oil every 15,000 and the filter every 30,000. Replacing the filter requires dropping the sump. The drain plug on this Dorman pan is handy because I can drain and refill 4 liters. without removing the tray. I would give five stars across the board, but the drain plug washer leaked even after re-tightening. I replaced the standard 20mm ID aluminum washer with one I had on hand that fits most oil pan plugs. Now there is no leak, but…

  • Perfect for outdoor activities

It fits a 2004 F-150

Like many reviews, this doesn't look like it will fit my truck, but it does. I also removed the drain plug and thoroughly cleaned the threads on the pan and the plug. The aluminum washer did the job when tightened to about 20 ft-lbs. No leaks. I reused the original gasket. Dirty but not harsh. I recommend blowing out the top of the screw mount and spraying some lube there before removing the screws if you live in a rust belt like me. The pan was never removed (yes, 16 years old) so some of the…

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Some small things

This pan is just as strong and strong as the original on my 2000 Lincoln Town Car with the added benefit of the powder coated finish. Yes, the drain threads are powder coated, but that can be repaired in about 5 minutes anyway. And you want that too, because the supplied plug is nonsense. Go to the auto parts store and buy the Needa drain plug 653116 (M14x1.5). Instead of a metal disc, there's a rubber O-ring right on top of the cork (because it's not 1927). When you get the pan, remove the…

Pros
  • Great for a small home

  • Doubtful purchase for seniors

Less headache Good for parts

This review is for a Dorman 265-813 transmission pan with drain plug. I had this drain pan on my 2004 4WD Expedition 5.4 for almost three months. There are no leaks around the drain pan or at the plug itself. There is no gear oil on the floor of my garage and I didn't see it in the parking lot at work. Installation was as easy as replacing an old drain pan. I was able to use the original filling after inspecting it for damage. Two weeks ago I used a drain plug for the first time. It worked like

Pros
  • Heavy duty construction
Cons
  • No automatic transmission

I like the product for parts

I like the product. Mine arrived in good condition, powder coated looks well made and durable. Another reviewer said that this pan is made of a thinner material than the standard pan, I'm not sure. Both that and the piston pan were measured to about 0.0625 inches with my calipers, which are 15-gauge steel. My biggest concern is the drain plug. The drain plug was installed prior to powder coating as mentioned by others. The end of the cork sticks. In the pan the first time you remove the stopper

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
