Good daily shots, usually underwater, long exposure

We received this camera before the holidays and didn't have time to get used to it before using it. A piece of advice: Buy cameras well in advance of you actually need them so that you become familiar with the functions. The shutter speed is too slow. We lost a lot of good underwater shots due to the shutter speed (1.5 to 2 seconds). It may not seem long, but when shooting underwater, a fish can swim 20 feet or disappear entirely in a few seconds. The pictures above the water are good. We shot a good underwater video in Cozumel. At that moment the sun was shining and gave traffic lights underwater. Cannot zoom in video mode. It also doesn't have a light/flash to be used like regular camcorders. The video is very clear. Second tip, buy a second battery. The first day the battery died, I took about 60 pictures and 10 (30 second) videos. Luckily, I followed someone's advice on this site and bought another battery (I didn't even forget to charge it). Overall, we like this camera for its size, quality, and value for money ($139). It is far superior to disposable underwater cameras and has good video capabilities. If you're looking for quality Jacques Cousteau underwater photography, budget a few grand. For the price, however, the performance is unbeatable.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Some difficulties
