I read the reviews on it and thought it was good enough for my needs. I was specifically looking for something within reasonable limits for home use and for vehicle diagnostics. Since it has an impedance of 10Mฮฉ, it's spot on for a reasonable price (allows you to test vehicle computer systems without damaging them). As a side note, I'm a retired automotive technician who has been teaching automotive electronics and driving controls for over 20 years. I've seen references to the thermocouple and the ability of the devices to read temperature, it works well enough for my needs, even the much more expensive Flukes have trouble reading temperature depending on the situation. If I need more accuracy in that department I would start by buying a different thermocouple, I don't think the meter is the problem. The reason I gave it 4 out of 5 is because of the leads. They really could deliver better leads. For less than $14 I bought the KAIWEETS 51" Soft Silicone Electrician Test Lead Set. It is very complete and contains everything I need for this gauge. I would recommend this gauge for the home mechanic, I would choose the Fluke for professionals who need a gauge on a daily basis.
