The interesting thing about fiber optics is that different suppliers choose different frequencies of light. Although the manual for these devices says they are 850nm compatible, they actually ONLY work at 1310nm. Be sure to check your transmit and receive wavelengths. whether the text on the website or in the manual is correct! So the text on the Amazon website is correct and the manual is for general reference only ;-) Update 19 September 2017: The company contacted me and admitted that the 'old' documentation could be confusing. They have published an updated paper and a clearly labeled 850nm media converter. They provided me with this product and it worked great with my TP-Link SFP switch, Netgear switch as well as my other TP-Link fiber media converters, so I changed the rating to 5 stars because it worked right out of the box.
