The chemical smell disappeared after three weeks. The size runs slightly larger, so buy the size your son/daughter is currently wearing. That is hard! Not soft as it seems. I agree, although I thought it would be stronger, BUT... and most importantly, it's glued. My son played with the neighbors and the party started right away. My other son has Nike flip flops and they are much better quality (for less money). I glued the gorilla back on but I can tell it won't take long. Love the concept but poor quality control.
