After reading some of the reviews I was hesitant. However, it is built with the quality you would expect from North Face. I have dealt with them and they always live up to their guarantee. This is a comfortable, fully customizable daypack. If the shoulders are uncomfortable, then they are not adjusted properly. The shoulders are stabilized but do not carry a small amount of weight. You may need to educate yourself on how to adjust the straps to get a good fit. The material is durable and the workmanship is excellent. The compartments are perfect for a laptop which is the main reason for the purchase. Most everyday backpacks have narrow shoulder straps. They are big and soft. One person found it too difficult. It's heavier than some, but there are models with thin nylon straps, which is fine if you want it. The perfect backpack for a day of hiking.
