It will give you a false sense of security.
Not a very good product. I charged it fully via the USB charger, the radio played for about 15 minutes and then died. I've had it in bright sun but the solar panel is too small to keep up with the battery drain to make a difference. I had to crank it up about 3 minutes to get another 4 minutes of playtime. It's a good idea, but not something you can rely on in an emergency. This may be ok if you have an extra solar panel to charge your battery.
