Review on BUNN GRB Velocity Brew 10-Cup Home Coffee Brewer, in Sleek Black Finish by Roberta Gonia

Good car - call once and get a free part.

This is our second Bunn coffee maker and we are happy with it. But if you are considering buying one, here are a few important things to know: 1. There is a phone number in the manual where you can order a free "flow restrictor" that can be replaced on your spray head . Do it, it's very important. First, the standard coffee maker loses coffee and requires higher ban filters. The coffee comes out very quickly, but it pushes most of the coffee grounds against the filter wall, making the coffee weaker and requiring taller filters - which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but they're not as easily accessible as regular filters. If you drink coarse coffee regularly, you might not care. But if you really want to get the full flavor out of your coffee, like we do, a replacement spray nozzle will do the trick. This increases the brewing time slightly, but not significantly. The difference in taste and the ability to use traditional filters make this worthwhile. (FYI, we had to do the same thing with our previous Bunn, with a silver reversible tank, so I almost expected to have to do it all over again, but I was surprised Bunn just doesn't include the part or permanently switch it over. We have them called and 2 days later it was in the mailbox so they know the demand for it.)2. In this model, compared to the other, the heating plate does not have a raised part to hold the pot in place, allowing it to slide out easily. Just be careful not to hit it while brewing or it could slide too far and the coffee won't go through the hole in the pot. Also, the shape of the pot is a bit awkward compared to the other model. It has a small tab on the top of the lid to keep it from dripping when you pour your cup of coffee. This works well but takes some getting used to when pouring water into the brewer. I think that's why they sell this little jar to avoid. But by and large, it's not that important.3. WHERE DO YOU POUR WATER: This model has a door that rises up while the other model opens to the side. Not a big deal, but if you have it under cupboards like we did, you might have to push the machine forward a bit to put water in. No big deal.4. The filter basket on this model is definitely thinner and slightly cheaper than on the other model. Again, not a big deal, but don't be surprised. It does what it's supposed to do, but isn't as ergonomic as its predecessor.5. The pot itself is not only a bit uncomfortable, but also a bit thinner and lighter than the other model. In any case, I'm always careful, but it seems to me that this model is more prone to breakage than the other model. Just in case I can take a spare. So if you want to make coffee quickly, this is a great machine. No clock, timers, lights or anything, just coffee on demand. Just note that (a) it needs to be on all the time to keep the water tank hot (that's how you get your coffee that fast) and (b) if you really like flavored coffee you'll need to call for a free atomizer head. But they do give you a couple of large filters in the box so you can use the machine while you wait for the part to arrive in the mail. We've only been using this machine for a week or two and so far it's working great. . Our other bunn lasted two years before it started leaking and ended up leaking out so much water it was unsafe. Hope this one lasts longer.
