This is the perfect size for my first grader's lunch. I think it's more versatile than a bin with a large section. If my kid wants a whole sandwich, I can put half a sandwich in each section. If she wants half the sandwich and something else like fries, the divider keeps everything tidy. This container is not airtight and therefore not suitable for wet items. With a little practice, my 6-year-old was able to open the lid on his own without the contents of the container flying around. We received a jar with a colored lid (which is nice) but if I had to do it all over again I would just buy a regular lid without the colored plastic mount. The plastic part has no real function and is just an extra part that needs to be washed (I remove it from the metal cover when washing because water gets between the metal cover and the plastic bracket and I am afraid that mold will develop inside).
