So far I have tested several network cables (CAT5e and CAT6) along with all our phone cables. This is a simple setup and the flashing lights will tell you exactly which wires aren't working. I'm keeping it with the 9v battery removed because I won't be using it that often and I don't want the battery eating away and ruining the unit. I am very satisfied with the device, price and functionality.
