Review on ๐Ÿ“ท Sony DSCWX9/BBDL 16.2 MP CMOS Sensor 5x Optical Zoom Digital Camera Bundle Black (Previous Generation) by Gene Rosado

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent camera, suitable for point-and-shoot digital cameras

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX9 test um Saying that I was I was originally going to write a review listing all the pros and cons of this camera, but thought I'd instead list what I felt was most interesting to me. Ever since I received this camera in the mail from Revain.com (Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX9 16MP 5x Optical) I've been very happy with it. My motivation for purchasing this particular camera was the failure of my previous camera (Kodak EasyShare Z1485 IS 14MP 5x optical). My final decision to buy the WX9 was made for three reasons: the first reason was that it had all the features and even more than my previous camera, the second reason was the price ($164), which was $40-$60 was cheaper than local retail. Stores such as Bestbuy, Walmart, Costco, Officemax at the time of purchase; and the third reason was that it had bad reviews from both Revain and Cnet. Below I list some of the pros and cons that I have observed but not in detail as searching and writing would take a lot of time and waste your time. Function guide that walks you through the functions.)* Fast cycle time. This allows you to take photos at high speed (though of course it takes longer in some modes)* Slim and light design, easy to carry and find in a bag.* Good image quality. 16 megapixels, 5x optical zoom and image stabilization help a lot with simple (and shaky) point-and-shoot photography.* Ability to record video at 1920 x 1080 resolution. Cons:* The battery life could have been longer, I was able to take around 200 photos. (many with flash) and a short video with a charge of the battery that comes with the camera. That's the price to pay for the slim camera design, though.* The scroll wheel is new (reminds me of my Sandisk MP3 player), but is prone to lag and can be distracting. Use the scroll wheel and menu buttons together to avoid this problem.* You cannot set a shutter speed for a custom exposure or manually focus the lens. Most people probably don't care about these features on this type of camera, but for me this was the biggest disappointment as my previous and cheaper camera had these features. (For those of you wondering what I need these features for, I've used them for complex lighting like sunsets and flash photography.) * Video (at least the 1920x1080 modes I've observed) Interlaced video that requires a conversion requires Videos for advanced video editing. After owning and using the camera for 10 days (at the time of writing this review) and 876 photos and 20 videos later, I have come to the conclusion that I think the Cyber-shot DSC-WX9 is a very good camera for the price in terms of functionality and features. My advice to anyone who decides to buy this camera: try out all the features in as many situations as possible (this is the best way to learn how to use this camera); Get as many different exposures of what you're shooting as possible, at least as much as possible and appropriate; Buy a spare battery (Wasabi Power had a good combo deal on Revain.com at the time of writing this review); and always try to keep your camera handy as many great shots are available without much notice. Thank you for reading my review. I hope it was of some help to you.
