This applies to the version with 4 external ports. This was added to a small server running Server 2012R2. The Renesas chipset drivers were already included in the operating system, so it was a true plug-and-play experience. Added for fast data transfer to external backup drives, this card didn't disappoint. It was one of the few solutions that housed four parts on a low-profile board. Some applications that use dongles or flash drives may have trouble with tight port spacing, but my various cables connect with no issues. Transferring to hard drives is now done at the maximum speed of real SATA hard drives in enclosures, which saves a lot of time when backing up up to 2-3 TB.
