They were durable, compact and most importantly effective! They were quick to put on and take off, although if you're as inflexible as I am, I needed some help putting on the right one. The strap goes through the right side of the shoe so it was easy for me to reach the left side and do it myself. My wife had no problems on either side. I could do it myself with a little effort. Grip with them was excellent on the roads of Iceland. You can hear them crunching and clinging to solid ice on the icy trails. The friend who didn't have cats had to walk more slowly and carefully. One day I forgot them and my very good winter walking shoes were fine. In other words, I was able to walk safely on the ice with crampons on, while I was more comfortable walking without them. I also vouch for their longevity as we have used them in no ice eras. Although I feared they might break out of the rocky terrain, they escaped unscathed! Thumbs up for this product!
