Although assembly is easy, all fasteners/connectors are very weak, unreliable and break easily. The top looks like a wire kitchen cooling rack with a handle latch in the middle, with two small, slightly curved plastic "hinges" brackets on one side and a pair of small plastic slides that straighten the edge of the "lid". so cover and snapped into place on the opposite side, they were difficult to slide in that shape. The handle itself barely holds the wires in the middle of the box, and I doubt they'll hold a heavier or more reluctant animal for long. The whole box is very unreliable. And I would hate to put a heavier cat or small dog in for fear their weight alone would break the latches. In fact, when I first put the bedding in the box and picked it up, ready to catch the cat, both sliders broke, the lid popped off and the box fell wide open and upside down. not even put an animal in it. a while! Decided to just take the box to the "nest” for orphans. It took the newborn kittens three and a half weeks to break a doorknob to get out.
