Review on Versatile TRINITY 3-in-1 Stainless Steel Suitcase Toolbox: A Perfect Companion for Storage and Travel Needs by Philip Berry

Close but not quite.

This is a tool kit for light to medium duty use. Metal is a good balance between lightness and strength. The three boxes snap into place well and it rolls smoothly. The removable upper shelf is practical. The drawer handles are comfortable, the retractable handle worked well enough. I wanted to like it, but there are a few things I don't like. Drawers are a big flaw. They're awkward to open and don't have metal guides so they stick a bit. Internal latch locks both drawers and slides up and down. When you put weight on the crates, the crates sag a bit, enough to unlock both of them. I discovered this after putting a few torches, styrofoam, and a few other light items (less than 5 pounds total) in the boxes; I was carrying the top two blocks down the stairs when the crates flew out and my torches almost got dusty! Another downside for me is that the bottom unit doesn't have side handles. When attempting to move just the loaded lower unit down the stairs with the retractable handle (no other option) in the stowed position, there was no convenient way to do so as the handle was off-centre. He crashed into my legs and all. It would also be difficult to load into my SUV as lifting just the bottom block by the folded handle still means a hand has to go very high to get the bottom block high enough to load. This is a real pain unless you are a heavy lifter. Finally, the wheels are made of smooth plastic and don't look very sturdy. I don't think they will do well on anything other than very smooth surfaces. The good news is that the seller did a great job of helping me with the return. Very painless. If you need a wheeled tool box for light jobs and you may have trouble with drawers, this might be a good tool box for you. You can just snap the top and bottom together and find another use for the drawers. Otherwise you are in a difficult position. I've looked at everything out there and I don't see anything durable and versatile in any price range in the US. All good things seem to be in Britain.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
