The case magnet is very strong and keeps the meter right where I put it, even if I pull on the wires a bit when taking measurements. In an industrial environment, they are indispensable. I have broken this down into two points. I used a magnet on my Fluke 289 and a case on my old 88. It's cheaper to buy than buying a magnet kit for the 289 and it's the SAME (plus you get a free case to sell on ebay)
