Review on Honeywell Carmel 48-Inch Ceiling πŸ”… Fan: Remote Control, Reversible Blades, Bronze Finish by Stacey Jones

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Quiet, balanced, simple, bright

They are much better than some other fans I have bought. They have a more "traditional" look than the low profile fans I've had in the past, but they were very easy to assemble yourself and just as easy to mount. I didn't have to use balance tabs at all, and the color options made it easy for me to customize the room's decor (as far as I know how). Tips: 1) DO NOT pre-assemble. Even with a helper, it will be much easier to just attach the blades and ignite afterwards. 2a) Make sure you have a suitable drop box on the ceiling. I highly recommend a box with a swing arm that runs between the bars. This is a post-assembly (RETRO) style that can replace your lighting box. Removing the old one can be painful. I recommend using a sawzall or a jigsaw to cut the nails after the wires are threaded. Get professional help if you don't feel comfortable at all. You don't want to get electrocuted or cut by the beam! 2b) DO NOT use a standard mounting box even if it is rated for 50lbs. They are not designed to withstand fluctuations as the blades rotate. 2c) I also recommend a retro electro box style with a square bar over a round bar, as you can actually tighten a square bar a little harder than you can by hand with a wrench (make sure you don't overtighten or break the bars ). 3) Get a remote (about $20) to control it and make sure you PROGRAM the remote and receiver ahead of time! I forgot 1 of the 3 I bought and had to take it all apart to flip 2 tiny switches in the remote base! 4) Use the extra pull chain hole in the lamp cover for the fan speed pull chain. Alignment might be a bit of an issue, but once it's aligned it works well enough as an override in case the remote fails. 5) When the console is plugged in, the pull chains work differently. For example, when you turn on the fan with the remote control, the pull chain toggles it between low/medium/high as usual. However, when you set the fan to low with the remote, the traction circuit now switches to extra low, very low, and low. Keep this in mind. I'm not sure myself, but I wouldn't recommend using these abnormal settings as most likely the engine isn't designed for it. one for which room. This saves you the hassle of going from room to room clicking the mouse to see if the remote is for that room. I marked a small number on the back of the console and on the suspension. Just combine them!
