Review on FROGG TOGGS Women's Classic All-Purpose Waterproof Breathable Rain Suit: Stay Dry in Style by David Hayden

Revainrating 5 out of 5

super functional. Not sexy.

I walk and run a lot in Southeast Alaska (it rains a lot). . .I prefer them to the durable and lightweight Arcteryx and Patagonia raincoats. I'm always much drier than anyone else in my group. Plan to swap them out every two to three years depending on usage (I've been using the kit for about three years and really abuse it with a lot of backcountry brushes etc etc). The only situations I wear some of my other raincoat sets are when looking good is important (because frog toggs are great for keeping you dry, but not for making you look slim or stylish) or if I fish all day the rain. . .then I choose something like my reinforced Arcteryx (which is phenomenally rainproof, looks good, fish slime washes off easily, but it doesn't even start to breathe...the camping situation is beyond reproach). When I go on an alpine hike and expect a combination of snow and rain... I sometimes wear froggy toggies but carry a heavy Arcteryx as a backup (although - in the last three years - I've never pulled an Arcteryx out of my backpack and changed - when I'm dealing with a strong wind in an almost frosty situation... the design of the Arcteryx hood is very good, and the frog hood is quite simple).

Pros
  • Very good value
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
