Review on 🐾 Extra Large Jumbo Hooded Cat Litter Box by Petphabet by Jessica Young

Revainrating 4 out of 5

MORE THAN AESTHETIC PLEASANT

I chose this tray for a number of reasons. I will also tell you a few disadvantages. My cat used to have an open litter box and figured a hood would help fight the odor and stray dirt outside the crate. I wanted a clear hood because I knew it wouldn't be such a drastic change from an opaque hood that darkens the interior. Little D has always been very picky about her litter box, so I knew I had to make the transition as smooth as possible. I can also tell if it needs cleaning without sticking my head near the entrance. Although the top of the box is translucent, it's also blurry enough that guests can't easily see the litter compared to an open box. It's just as easy to clean as any hooded drawer I've had in the past. Another reason I chose it is the size. Lots of space for my little cat. The shape is easy enough to handle that you can easily place your box. I also bought this item because of the COLOR! Most crates are so ugly that your only hope is a canoe flag or hiding it somewhere. Thanks to the different color options, you can adapt it to the space and blend in very well. When my guests notice it, they actually ask for it because of the good looks. The top is connected to the bottom with four clips, two on each side. I was happy with the two extra clips in case they break. It's easy to take apart. Here's what I would change in the box. The gap in the opening where the cat enters is a little high. This is important if your cat has ever hesitated to use the litter box. You don't want to give them a reason not to use it. I measured her previous box and was happy to find the measurements for this one on the Revain site. Her old box contained six inches of plastic that she had to step over. It was a bit high because Little D is a small cat. However, that never stopped her from using her old box. The new box had just over seven inches of ground clearance. I saw that as a problem, but I couldn't find another box that met my needs. I went to Hone Depot and they cut me two pieces of wood the width of the tray. They were about two inches thick and I used them as a step in front of Little D's entrance to solve the gap problem. I polished them very well so that my child would not have splinters in his paws. I'm thinking about covering them with filler. photos provided. Another thing I would change about the box is that it's a bit difficult to get the top flush with the bottom. I suppose heat or manufacturing is to blame, but it's not too much of an issue. You just need to make sure the clips really cover the top of the bottom and you may need to play around with that a bit. Not critical. In addition, there is a small lip at the bottom of the manhole, which collects unwanted but small amounts of debris that easily falls to the ground. Again not a deal breaker. If you've been a cat owner long enough, you've learned that litter on the floor is inevitable. Next, I think the tray is a bit more expensive. There are others that are a reasonable size or larger and cost half the price. Basically, you only pay for the looks and color options. The last thing I want to change about this box is that there is no odor filter slot on the top. One of the reasons I switched boxes was because I figured a range hood would help deal with the smell. However, this does not violate the terms of the contract. I was overwhelmed by the positive features of this box. In general, I have as many minuses as pluses, but the pluses weigh much more. That's why I rated it 4 out of 5 stars. Pros: The hood helps with odor and dirt lying around on the floor. The transparent hood is a nice transition to the open box. Translucent enough to easily see if cleaning is needed. Cloudy enough not to be noticed by guests. Easy to clean and disassemble. Lots of space and good shape. MUCH HIGHER QUALITY LOOK THAN MOST BOXES Cons: The gap is too big for small cats. .Inlet lip collects debris. More expensive than similar boxes due to the fact they appear to be light color options. There is no odor filter slot on the top. The pros far outweigh the small cons.
