Review on Arlington FLBR5420 Recessed Power And Data Round Floor Box (Brown) by Paul Dye

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent quality and thoughtful design

We've been looking for a floor socket for a long time but they all seemed pretty thick over the finished floor or looked really commercial. It's the thinnest I've seen and the exposed parts of the brass model are cast entirely in brass, which has to withstand the stress. The biggest challenge is cutting the 5 inch hole. 5 inch hole saws are expensive but do a really good job if you have a drill bit strong enough to drill through. A saber saw will do, but I tend to distrust my skills when cutting holes in finished floors. It slides in easily and is securely fastened with four hand-tight screws. My only suggestion for improvement would be that the finger flaps that hold it to the ground are metal and that it has a locking nut on the bottom of the bolt so you don't accidentally pry the retaining finger off the end of the bolt when reversing thicker ground. But that's not a show stop of course, just a nuisance for me when one of them fell under the house. It was easy to put back on; it just turns back. The ethernet jack holes are well placed and will work with any keystone jack, meaning you can add an HDMI or COAX jack instead of two ethernet jacks, making it ideal for connecting your TV to your TV via a wired connection Sofa off to power. . Very convenient and worth the price.
