First here is my first review just after purchasing the product: I have a Sony HDR CX700 camcorder and I need this adapter to connect Sony items can the camera. It's a bit tricky to install, but once installed it works great. --------- However. Just before I wanted to photograph the wedding, the adapter broke in half. The night after the wedding I took it to a show and found that the top and bottom were held together with only two screws, and those screws go through holes too big for the screw head. Therefore, without a washer, the bolt cannot hold the top and bottom halves together. There are washers on each screw, but they are thin, flexible plastic washers that will fail 100% once torque or pressure is applied to the adapter, e.g. B. when adjusting a light or a microphone connected to the camera through this adapter. So all in all, a thin plastic washer keeps the two screws from being pulled through the holes and the two halves falling apart. I had some small flimsy washers and was able to fix mine, but now that I understand the construction I wouldn't trust it with any hardware I don't want to damage or lose. It can be designed so that when you twist or turn whatever is attached to the adapter, that force doesn't break the mount in the camcorder. However, I think the real reason is that it's just very poorly done.
