I'm a software engineer working in a cubicle where the ceiling hums from the heater (we're on the top floor) of an office building - HVAC on the roof). These headphones create an oasis of silence! The noise-cancellation *seems* to be head and shoulders above others I've tried (Beats Studio at Target and Sony at Costco), although the comparison isn't entirely fair as I haven't tried Bose in the same conditions as Bose. others (e.g. in a noisy shop). How good is that? The humming AC noise is completely gone. I still hear voices - as long as I'm not making music. Even at low/medium volume, voices are barely audible. People have to pat me on the back if they want my attention. The wearing comfort is excellent. I wear them all day with no problems. I think people with big ears might feel less comfortable. Power supply: The headphones use one AAA battery. Since I play music for 2-3 hours every day, the battery lasts 2-3 weeks. As others have noted, these headphones will not function (i.e. play music) without power. My only issue (and the reason I can't give them 5 stars) is the terrible consistency. It's a cheap plastic material that I have to constantly unravel by hanging the headphones by the plug and letting the headphones rotate. It really is pretty pathetic to put cheap crap like that on $300 headphones - shame on Bose for not fixing that. Will it hurt your profitability so badly that you can't earn anything like Apple's $20 headphones that come with every iPhone (they're more rubbery and don't seem to slip). Update for iPhone/iPad/iPod users. : In iOS 7, Apple introduced a new way to call Siri (Apple's voice assistant) β instead of holding down the Home button (or the center button on your headphones) until you hear the Siri confirmation tone, and then asking Siri your question and then wait for Siri to accept your input. In iOS 7, you can hold the button down until you're done speaking, avoiding the delay that Siri typically waits for you to know you're done speaking. This is a very useful feature. And it doesn't work with Bose's built-in chord button :-( I guess it's not really Bose's fault, but I thought it was worth mentioning.
