After often burning vegetables on the stove, I switched to steaming in an electric steamer with an on/off switch. When I saw this steamer I was excited to see a nicer piece on the counter than my old plastic one. My old plastic steamer became opaque and dark from all sides. To be honest, I was surprised at how crappy this metal steamer looked. What a disappointment! After a single use, a mineral deposit has formed in the water tank. I immediately cleaned it by boiling it with vinegar and water for 50 minutes. The stains stay. This metal behaves differently than my other stainless steel pots and pans! In addition, the lid does not fit on both baskets. It fits exactly on only one of them. Cleaning the baskets is easy if you do it right away and don't let the food dry out. The feature I like the most is that it turns off automatically when you set your desired time. The spinach took 25 minutes and the cauliflower 40 minutes. It's time to ditch the old steamer with the rusty heating element. At least the heating element is not directly exposed to water. The only reason I didn't return this steamer is because it's made out of stainless steel and I hate plastic!
