Review on FAIRWIN Leather Dog Leash: 6 Ft Braided Heavy Duty Training Leash for Large, Medium & Small Dogs—Ideal for Running and Walking by Tamika Lawrence

Looks good, but there are two problems. See the revised review at the bottom of this review.

I have a 30# Irish Terrier, a very active dog so I need a strong and durable leash. I have two old leashes from my two previous Irish Terriers. This one is fine, but there are two problems. The length is about 5 feet - 4 inches compared to my other two which are 6 feet long. It is advertised as 6 feet. The two ends are separated and woven so it looks nice. One of my other two is similar. BUT there are no rivets or overlapping ends. This means the end of the tag is open and the dog will quickly gnaw through and destroy it. Luckily I have a set of rivets so I fixed it myself. As far as I remember the picture shows rivets so this is not the product I ordered. ***** To update. I still haven't used this leash except for testing purposes. My original leather leash still works perfectly. The more I think about it I had to return this one and get another one for two reasons: 1. NOT 6ft long which is a serious problem when your dog is used to that length. If you walk two different dogs, they should have the same leash length. 2. I was still concerned that they forgot to insert the rivets to secure the ends. As I mentioned, I used my own rivets, but you don't have to modify the new leader to make it last for the first few uses. I'll save this now as it's too late to go back, but I'll only use it for temporary use when my other leash finally dies (he's 14 12 now and getting strong after two dogs). For the two reasons above, I would be uncomfortable using it as my main leash. Oh good. We recommend looking elsewhere for a leather leash. I have a few other nylon leashes but leather leashes are much more comfortable in the hand as they slip and stretch a bit to get a smack on the dog's hand that needs to be restrained. I hope this one lasts and lasts as long as my other two. One of them is at the end of its useful life due to heavy use. But I don't expect it because of the questionable cuts in the design.
