Two of these were swapped out. Both sets only survived for about a year despite having a really pleasant sound. The pads' foam eventually wears down, at which point the plastic pins used to secure the foam start protruding through it. Long periods of time spent listening to music are a true agony due to the sharp spikes and pretty strong clamping of the bow (you can experience a distinctive buzz if you accidently catch on something with a cable). In addition, the cups' plastic hinges that link them to the temple eventually wear out, causing them to continuously come loose. Therefore, each time before you begin listening to them, you must first make a miniature version of the original. Given the intended use of this model, all of this seems a bit off. In general, I didn't want to repeat stepping on a rake, therefore I went with the AKG 414s. Their sound is much better than the Koss Porta Pro's, and they're far more convenient and dependable. And the additional expense is merely $300.
