I have this in my car, the sides of my seats curve like the Recaro racing seat design, they don't curve that much but you get the idea. When tied to my car kit and not getting in it doesn't seem to fit well, it doesn't touch the seat due to the side supports on the car seat, as soon as I recline it it presses against the seat and I can sit in my car seats with my back twisted. I can't normally sit in my car seat with my back turned out, this keeps my back in a good position in these seats and doesn't cause any additional back pain from the setup. I've also used this on my computer chair at home, it works really well for that too. I naturally have a curve in my back more than most people and it still supports my back very well. The thicker roller support feels too thick and my upper back doesn't touch the backrest. With this thin support, my upper back really touches the backrest and supports my lower back really well.
