My 20 gallon tank has been in service for about 2 years now and I use the old fashioned short suction and bucket method every week. This method means I have to stick the entire 3 foot pipe into the tank to create a vacuum and then run the bucket. I ended up with two buckets and it still got a little wet. Not ideal, but I didn't know this option existed. Over the past two months I have kept coming back to this product out of curiosity. I live in New York and have never seen anything like this in stores so I wasn't sure how reliable it would be for tank cleaning. I've just used it for the second time and it has changed my life. Super easy to use and it cuts my cleaning in half. There is also no water spillage, so the whole process is more hygienic. I run a 25 foot pipe from my fish tank into my tub and when it's time to refill it I use the shower. This means I have to unscrew the shower head, but my sink faucet doesn't hold the mechanism, giving me plenty of room to run the hose. never mind There are two things to note: 1. When you're ready to start refilling, make sure you hear a big CLICK. Thinking it was set up correctly, I turned on the water just to let it slosh out a bit. You may have to work harder than you think. 2. When refilling, constantly check the water temperature and adjust if necessary. I tilt the hose up, it relieves the pressure. The tank still fills up in about 2 minutes, but that gives me extra time to raise or lower the temperature.
