Not designed for ceiling lights - check tombstone orientation before ordering

Unlike 360 degree fluorescent lights, LED lights only emit light in one direction. These lights shine "out of the way" of the light body in the same direction as the "headstone" attachments pointing away from the light body and have no rotating ends. This means that if you mount your lights in ceiling or "recessed" fixtures like in my picture, the light will shine directly at you or into the fixture (poorly). The T8 light has 2 pins that establish this alignment with these LED bulbs. Examine your attachment and pin orientation versus the direction of the LED strip in my photos to see what I mean. To avoid this problem, order LED tubes with rotating caps. You can modify them to "glow down" in the stowed mount by removing the ends, cutting the clip holding the end, rotating the end 90 degrees and glueing it back together. The bracket is oval in shape so rotating the ends 90 degrees and assembling actually extrudes the clear plastic cap in the center of the tube. This is a workaround to get the product working, but not ideal. I used aluminum metal tape to reattach the ends. In the picture of the bed lamp there is such a modified LED. I wouldn't install them in a mount that also doesn't have an impact protection cover. directly to the incoming 115V AC wires. This is typical for LED bulb replacements and isn't difficult to do, but if you're afraid to mess around with 115V wires, buy an LED that uses the original ballast is working.

  • handy

  • so far so good
