I have suffered from herpes my whole life (as far as I can remember). I'm 45+ and have been taking L-lysine for about 10 years. It works. When I get cold sores early on, they don't go away when I take L-lysine. Whenever I feel a tingling I start by taking 2 tablets in the morning, one in the afternoon and 2 more in the evening before bed. I do this for as long as I feel the tingling and 2 days after it stops. It takes longer if I miss the tingling and they come out, in this case I do it until the sores are completely gone (+2 days). However, this product is great! I've taken dozens of brands of L-lysine over the past 10 years. Most of them are huge and have no cover. This makes them hard to swallow or in some cases they get stuck and drive me crazy. They are coated like other medicines to make them easier to pass through. YES, they are huge, I haven't (unfortunately) found any non-huge ones on the market yet. BUT as I said, they have good coverage so they wash off easier than any other I've tried. The price is right, I get a bundle in a bottle that lasts a long time, and most importantly, they work! However, at TMI time, they cause some constipation, so drink plenty of water with them.
