it is with one hand. The rug is reversible, one with a cute bear/fox flow and the other with a lovely geometric grey/white pattern. Both sides have some texture. As for the creases, there are more creases on the bear/fox river side than the gray side, since the gray side is the side that folds in. Food scraps, dirt, dust, etc. are more likely to get stuck on the banks of a bear/fox river. For this reason I prefer the gray side, but the bear/fox side of the river is much nicer! The instructions say not to wipe it down with harsh chemicals/abrasives, so I only use non-bleaching wipes. The instructions also say not to put anything heavy on it or it may dent it. This is a nice foam pad that's less than 1/2 inch thick and I wish it was bigger! But it's a decent size, just under 4ft by 4ft, and that makes it ultraportable given its size. I wish there was a separate velcro strap or something so I could hold it together while carrying it from place to place; Don't get me wrong, it doesn't force open, it folds very neatly and neatly. But otherwise it works surprisingly well.
