Review on πŸ₯€ USA-Made Hummingbird Glass Straws 9" - 4-Pack, Reusable & Perfect for Smoothies, Tea, Juice, Water, Essential Oils - Includes Cleaning Brush by Juan Lukas

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great straws, you could make them yourself for a fraction of the cost if you know at least the basics of glassblowing

After working in a chemistry lab for many years, I could the I did these things for about a buck for 5 minutes but despite my obvious facepalm they are pretty good. It takes a while to get used to a straw that doesn't bend (I've learned to use my teeth to control the straw). They are nicely packaged and include a cleaning brush which is very handy. I'm a big fan of glassware because this material is so inert that its solubility in anything you choose to put in your body is practically negligible. Plastics are primarily made from petrochemicals, and while the solubility is pretty low, I'm never sure how much plasticizer ends up in my food and how harmful each one is. Metals often leave an aftertaste (meaning they are soluble!) and when material comes from overseas I can never be sure what alloy was used or if it was metal plated to make it look like the best alloy. They are mostly covered in plastic, which brings me back to my first point. Anyway, glass = inert, safe to eat (except for sharp edges) and leaves no flavor in your food. The obvious downside is that they are fragile and can break.

Pros
  • High scores for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • There are problems
