Review on CFexpress Portable Aluminum Thunderbolt Connection by Joseph Marshall

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Very slow work, disappointment

This reader was very disappointed. Extremely slow. I'm having a hard time getting 65-70Mbps when plugged directly into a USB 3.0 port using the original cable. It usually copies 35-45MB, which is below any industry standard. I get more on SD cards and reader on the same port. My camera is faster when copying files to the same port using a USB cable (using the same CFE card). Thus, the device is useless because it does not fulfill its main function. The original cable is too short to conveniently plug into any port. And with other cables, the reader almost does not work. Or almost no connection via USB hubs. I have a very fast CFE card, but the reader kills all the fun with an advanced card. I've tried different connection options, different USB ports - the result is the same - slow and crappy. While all other USB devices show a much better result there. I have an XQD card and reader and they just blow my mind with their 300-350 speed on the same USB port. I hate writing negative reviews but this time I feel like I should probably discourage someone from wasting money on a cheap e-reader that reads so slowly.
