Dangerous! AVOID!

First of all I was lucky I didn't kill myself testing this thing. I'm not new to electronics. For something that runs on mains power I took all the precautions I normally do. Read the instructions, which are short and incomplete in a very important way. I took out my multimeter and put it on the stand to check the outputs. The device turns on, displays the temperature and both outputs are on by default. The temp seemed accurate enough given the ambient temp of the room at the time, but I found that out because a couple of output wires that I thought were simple RELAY CONTACTS accidentally shorted and snapped! The power was on, and that thing sitting on my bench was incredibly dangerous. There was no way I was expecting the line neutral to be connected directly to the outputs. *THIS IS NOT A PLACE AT ALL* that says outlets connect directly to the mains, and the fact that these things are *ON* by default is an accident waiting in the wings and I'm very happy that I did not have this accident . ! Looking at both the documentation and the product listing, you can see a photo that suggests the outlets have power (e.g. a lightbulb attached to the outlet), but I don't think it was there when i originally ordered it was it's one thing. Since it provides exits with almost zero security measures, they are both dangerous and totally unsuitable for my intended purpose. I got this device from Vine, but there is another similar humidity control device that I also bought. I'll try to return the Revane, but if I can't, they'll both end up in the trash.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
