So this is a review from someone who has never used a 3D machine before and needed to do some research to understand not just the machine but the whole concept of modeling and building a stable structure . , more on that later. Right off the bat, this unit is very comfortable for its size, fitting in most places where a slightly larger Playstation 4 would fit, and making no noise when idle. Setup is extremely easy, no major hassle other than finding a flat surface next to an outlet, thanks to a very short spare power strip and a computer at the ready. Cables are provided for the required download, but when I first plugged in the printer I wasn't prompted to install a new driver or device or anything, and that's when using the Windows OS. A quick Google search will take you to the device's home page, select your printer, and download the XYZware files (which I'm not too happy with, more on that later). There is a 3D builder app available if you're using a Windows OS, but again, it's a bit more advanced for me at the moment, so I was set up with the basic software. Finally, after loading all the necessary elements, we move on to the actual printing, which of the four quality prints definitely bears the name of Mini da Vinci, even Jordan among printers. Print quality is detailed and excellent when working with very complex designs. See the photos for yourself, not much to say about that. XYZware will help you choose the right size, make sure you stay within the limits, and offer a variety of printing and design options before printing. BEGINNER TIPS: I didn't get off to a good start and it was definitely more human error than machine error (if you get it right you'll see what I mean) but to save you some setup headaches: LOADING A THREAD: the initial thread and after you just have to get the first 3/4 into the tube (if you can see how it looks out of the tube you're done). When loading XYZware, be sure to clean the nozzle before printing and loading. This heats up the extruder and prevents clogging, which is more likely to happen on the first draw. This is the hard part. See for yourself how the melted filament doesn't come through, turn off the printer and manually pull the feed tube into the extruder, which is a headache** (I accidentally ripped out the washer around it), grab one of the long pins and press Gently but forcefully through any sticky filaments. You should be ready after reinstalling the feed tube and attempting to load the filament a second time. PRINT: First two things: The files will be in 3D format or use an external/third party tool to convert 2D images. to 3D files, heard from Blender, haven't used my own yet, but again you can search google for .stl or .obj files. Second point: USE SUPPORTS AND RAFTS! This is where you need to brush up on your 3D printing coursework and understand that printing objects is almost identical to building a house. You need support structures that will give good support to the parts hanging from the base of your print. Imagine arms dangling from your torso/legs or look it up on youtube it will help a lot. CONS: The manual is incredibly difficult to read, especially because it's in black and white, and the images provided make it easier to understand. difficult to decipher directions. In particular, you must ensure that you remove parts that could cause structural damage to the machine itself. DO NOT REFUSE WITH THE USER MANUAL! we'll see what I mean after a few prints. Finally the WiFi doesn't work, need to sort it out, but couldn't connect via WiFi, only via USB cable. All in all: a great printer to buy for newcomers to the world of 3D printing. Will be updated after more use and full thread! Enjoy!
