I bought these headphones on sale during Black Friday and I love them. Surprisingly, the A50 Gen 4 is even more comfortable than the Gen 3 thanks to the fact that the ear cushions feel softer, almost plush, and the headband is much better, a more rectangular shape, closer to that of the A40 TR. "Astro Audio V2" refers to updated drivers which, like the A40 TR Gen 4, have a more balanced overall sound while still having great bass and soundstage. This means that not only can you find enemies and shoot them more easily, but the sound is so much more detailed that you can even tell the sound of one weapon from another. It also makes them much better for media consumption and gaming. The microphone is just as good, if not clearer, than the Astro A10. It's larger, so it can pick up more of your voice, but most of the time it manages to stay outside of your peripheral vision. All the great features of the Astro A50 Gen 3 return, including an accelerometer for auto-standby, a flip-out mic for mute, and a base station that streams audio while charging your headset. Firstly, when the headset is off, you can detach it, lay it horizontally and it will turn off after about 15 seconds to save battery. Pull it back up and it instantly turns back on. Twisting to mute the mic is self-explanatory, but also great because all you have to do is twist the mic up to mute and down to unmute. The new base station is much smaller but slightly deeper than the previous model. This ensures a better fit when docking the headset for charging. An optional leather fashion kit is also available separately. The headset can also be folded, which is handy if you like carrying it on your shoulders. All in all, this headset combines the best of the A50 Gen 3 and only improves it. It's worth the full price of $300.
